DoIP

DoIP is defined in the standard ISO13400 standard. DoIP stands for Diagnostics over IP. DoIP enables the use of uds data services via TCP/IP or Ethernet. ISO13400 is not a diagnostic protocol, but only an extended transport protocol. Although DoIP defines the transmission of diagnostic packets, the diagnostic services contained are still defined and described by diagnostic protocols such as KWP2000 or UDS.

The technical basis for DoIP is the support of udp and tcp . Status and configuration information is transmitted via UDP, the actual diagnostic information flows via a TCP connection.

Pins for connection to Ethernet are provided at obd-2-plug . The advantage of Ethernet over can is the considerably higher data rate (faster updates of the vehicle software are possible) and the possibility of direct communication with conventional network-capable devices.
